Holiday Travel Alert: Freeway Closures Off the Table for the Weekend!

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced a festive reprieve for drivers during the upcoming holidays. Over the next three weekends—December 20-23, December 27-30, and January 3-6—no full closures will occur on Phoenix-area freeways due to construction or maintenance.
While minor freeway work may take place weeknights, significant restrictions are not anticipated. Furthermore, state highways outside of the Phoenix area will also remain free from full closures from December 23 to January 6.
ADOT urges motorists to prioritize safety during their travels. This includes adhering to speed limits, utilizing seat belts, and remaining vigilant behind the wheel. Additionally, drivers should avoid distractions and never operate a vehicle under the influence. Planning for a designated driver or a rideshare service is advisable when needed.
For further details, drivers can access the Weekend Travel Advisory map on the ADOT website.
