Valley Organization Aims to Cultivate Future WWE Superstars

Arizona’s wrestling scene is being energized by local organizations, particularly in Mesa, where aspiring talents train rigorously at Arizona Pro Wrestling Training Center. Located near Stapley Drive and Broadway Road, the facility offers an immersive environment, reflecting the demands faced by WWE superstars.
Training sessions are intense. Wrestlers undergo strenuous drills, mastering ring techniques while showcasing larger-than-life personalities. Trainee El Valiente, who has been honing his craft for two years, expressed the collective aspiration: “WrestleMania, that’s what everybody wants.”
Dom Vitalli, pro-wrestler and owner of Phoenix Championship Wrestling, emphasized the dedication required to succeed in this sport. “Wrestling is for everybody to enjoy, but it’s not for everybody to do,” he noted, underscoring the need for commitment and effort.
To ensure suitability, Vitalli and co-founder Jon Wolfgang implement a selective interview process for new trainees. “We don’t train people that want to do this as a hobby or just kind of try it out,” he explained, adding that their aim is to nurture the next generation of WWE talent.
With a curriculum that includes ring maneuvers, safety practices, and chain wrestling, some students have advanced to professional ranks. Notably, WWE star Maxxine Dupri prepared for her tryout at the center.
Arizona has deep connections to notable WWE figures, including Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan. Both Vitalli and Wolfgang commented on the booming popularity of wrestling in the Valley, attributing part of its growth to the establishment of Phoenix Championship Wrestling, which fills a significant void in local entertainment.
“There’s no reason why good quality, family-friendly championship wrestling shouldn’t be a staple of the Valley,” Wolfgang stated. The organization has seen its audience burgeon, with recent events drawing over 1,600 fans.
Ultra Women’s Champion Zamaya reflected on the emotional connection she feels with the crowd. “It’s the most insane feeling,” she said, recalling the thrill of her entrance. Wolfgang reiterated the long-term vision for PCW, aiming to become the definitive destination for professional wrestling in Arizona.
“We want people to know that, okay, if I go to Arizona and I want to see good wrestling, I know exactly where I can go,” Wolfgang concluded.
