Disney Channel Stays Alive: No Shutdown in the U.S.
The Disney Channel has announced that it will cease operations in France and Spain beginning in early 2025, but will continue to air in the United States.
This development came after a viral post on social media claimed the network would shut down permanently in January 2025, sparking confusion among fans. The post stated, “Disney Channel will stop airing for good January 2025 after 27 years of history,” amassing over 450,000 views.
Many users took to platforms like X to express concerns about the future of the channel in the U.S. amidst the widespread speculation. However, inquiries into these claims were met with clarification from official sources.
According to Fonda Berosini, a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment Television, the rumors that the Disney Channel will end its U.S. broadcast in 2025 are false. The closure pertains solely to the European markets of France and Spain.
Starting January 1, 2025, France’s Canal, the leading television service provider, will no longer carry the Disney Channel. Subsequently, on January 7, 2025, Spain’s Net TV will also cease its offerings of the channel. Despite this, viewers in both nations will still have access to Disney Channel content through on-demand services on Disney+.
Globally, the Disney Channel remains operational in over 160 countries, with plans for an extensive lineup of children’s programming set to be launched in 2025 and 2026.
