SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — An 8-year-old boy is currently in extremely critical condition following an incident at the Arizona Biltmore Resort where a statue fell on him. The unfortunate event occurred Wednesday morning, prompting a swift response from Phoenix fire crews around 9 a.m.

According to reports, a statue known as one of the iconic “Sprite” figures toppled over, resulting in a serious head injury to the child. Phoenix Fire Captain Todd Keller confirmed that emergency teams were dispatched promptly to manage the situation.

The fallen statues are part of the original design by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, which adds to the historic significance of the resort. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the statue’s collapse. Captain Keller indicated that as of now, the cause remains unclear.

The Arizona Biltmore issued a statement regarding the incident: “Our top priority is the safety of our guests, and our thoughts are with the family impacted by today’s events.” They are cooperating fully with any investigations.
