A 19-year-old from Maricopa, Marcus Johnson, was arrested on November 15, 2024, for disorderly conduct and misconduct involving weapons. The incident occurred at Slim Chickens on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.

Maricopa police responded to reports of a firearm threat at the restaurant around 7 p.m. Employees informed police that Johnson entered the establishment looking for a water cup.

According to witnesses, when a man greeting Johnson was perceived as disrespectful, the teen displayed a pistol from his waistband and demanded the man follow him outside.

When the man refused, Johnson allegedly called him derogatory names and continued to pressure him to confront him outside. After making no progress, Johnson left the scene on foot.

Police located Johnson at the intersection of West Rosalia Drive and Ventana Lane. Upon searching him, officers discovered the concealed handgun.

During questioning, Johnson admitted to carrying the gun and attempting to incite a fight. He explained that he felt compelled to carry a firearm because “no one is willing to fight anymore.”

Johnson was subsequently booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center. If convicted on all charges, he could face up to seven months in prison.
