Suns Hold Off Trail Blazers Rally with 49-Point Duo of Booker and Durant in 103-97 Victory

PHOENIX — In a tense showdown, the Phoenix Suns maintained their winning streak, overcoming the Portland Trail Blazers 103-97 on Saturday night. Devin Booker was the standout performer, recording 28 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Despite a 26-point lead for Phoenix, the Blazers fought back hard, closing the gap to just two points in the final moments of the game.
Kevin Durant added another 21 points to Phoenix’s tally, helping secure the Suns’ fourth consecutive victory. The game’s climax saw Booker and Tyus Jones each sink two crucial free throws in the last 21 seconds, ultimately sealing the win for the home team.
Grayson Allen made significant contributions off the bench, scoring 18 points and hitting four three-pointers. Jones and Bradley Beal each chipped in with 15 points, while Jusuf Nurkic dominated the boards for Portland, finishing with a game-high 15 rebounds.
After trailing 47-43 at halftime, Phoenix exploded for 44 points in the third quarter. This offensive surge allowed them to build a 22-point lead by period’s end, showcasing a dramatic turnaround with zero turnovers in the third frame — a stark contrast to their nine mistakes in the first half. Both Booker and Allen were instrumental during this stretch, each scoring 10 points while the Blazers managed only 18.
Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant topped the scoring for Portland, each netting 20 points. Deni Avdija also contributed with 13 points, and former Sun Deandre Ayton added 10 points and 13 rebounds to his former team’s efforts.
As for Simons, his performance was a mixed bag; he began the game shooting poorly but ultimately landed eight of his 25 shots, including a team-high four from three-point range. On the Suns’ side, Beal returned after struggling with a sprained elbow, playing effectively for 34 minutes and accumulating 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
The Suns will face the Philadelphia 76ers next at home, while the Trail Blazers travel to New Orleans for their upcoming match-up on Monday.
