The annual Pacana Pumpkin Walk took place on the night of October 30, 2024, attracting Halloween enthusiasts eager to showcase their costumes and gather candy from various booths. Since its inception in 2019, the event has grown in popularity, drawing thousands of participants each year.

City spokesperson Monica Williams reported impressive attendance figures, highlighting the event’s success in meeting community expectations. “We obviously think it was a fantastic turnout,” she stated, reflecting on the tradition’s significance. “This is a cherished tradition in our community that we’re very happy that people are still coming out for.”

Williams noted that attendance at the Pacana Pumpkin Walk has increased annually. This year, 100 vendors participated, with each required to provide a minimum of 75 pounds of candy. Among them, InMaricopa contributed 40 Halloween-sized bags.

In total, attendees collected at least 7,500 pounds of candy, filling countless plastic jack-o-lanterns and pillowcases. “That’s enough to give even the Hulk a stomachache,” Williams quipped, emphasizing the event’s generous offerings.

The event received support from local sponsors, notably Christ Church of the Valley, which not only supplied additional candy but also facilitated overflow parking for attendees. Nearby Saddleback Elementary School’s lots were utilized, and a shuttle service operated throughout the evening to accommodate the influx of visitors.

“Without the support of the residents and local businesses, this community event would not be possible,” Williams expressed, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the Pumpkin Walk’s success.
