Traffic congestion was reported on June 10, 2024, due to unexpected restrictions on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway (MCG). In response to ongoing infrastructure improvements, roadwork is scheduled to resume on November 11, 2024, lasting approximately one week.

The construction will span a 1.6-mile segment, starting just south of Maricopa Groves Parkway and extending to Porter Road. Planned overnight closure hours for MCG are set from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., during which both directions will experience a complete shutdown in the work zone.

Monica Williams, a spokesperson for the City of Maricopa, noted that these dates may vary based on contractor availability. “They will be milling and paving the eastbound lanes on MCG, as well as the westbound lanes between Stonegate Road and Maricopa Groves,” Williams explained.

This upcoming work follows multiple phases initiated over the summer, where significant segments of the highway were milled and repaved. The improvements aim to enhance road safety and driving conditions for residents and commuters.
