Montealegre's hat trick propels Aztec men to 9th shutout victory of the season

The Pima Community College men’s soccer team continues its strong season, securing a sixth consecutive victory by defeating GateWay Community College 4-0 at the West Campus Aztec Field on Saturday. With this win, the Aztecs improve their record to 13-1 overall and 12-1 in the ACCAC.

Ranked No. 4, the Aztecs clinched their ninth shutout of the season. They have dramatically outscored their opponents, netting 36 goals while conceding only one in the last six matches.

Sophomore Jose Luis Martin Montealegre delivered a standout performance, netting a hat trick. He opened the scoring in the 10th minute, added a second in the 25th minute, and capped off the scoring in the 85th minute with his third goal.

Additonally, sophomore Dohyun Koh provided two crucial assists, contributing to both Montealegre’s second goal and freshman Florian Traebert’s goal in the 40th minute. The Aztecs dominated the game, registering 29 shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Alexi Cristerna Oleta made two saves during the match, further solidifying the team’s defensive efforts. Looking ahead, the Aztecs will travel for their next two games, including a morning match against South Mountain Community College scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m.
