A 26-year-old father from Hidden Valley has pleaded guilty to several charges of child abuse. Anthoney Vincent Fragomeni entered his plea on Sept. 23 in Pinal County Superior Court.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Aug. 9, when sheriff’s deputies arrested Fragomeni after witnessing a disturbing video. The footage depicted him violently assaulting his young daughter for waking him up. According to the police report, Fragomeni was seen dragging her by her hair and throwing her to the floor, resulting in visible distress and pain for the child.

Witnessing the attack, a responding officer noted that Fragomeni struck his daughter multiple times while she lay on the ground. The report detailed that the child attempted to escape her father’s blows but fell multiple times in her attempts to flee.

In a police interview, Fragomeni acknowledged his actions, stating that his daughter “didn’t deserve it” and expressed that he was “pissed off” for being awakened.

Fragomeni’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 28. As a first-time offender, he faces a potential prison term of seven to 21 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, according to Salwin Law Group.

This case surfaces as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month commences, highlighting the critical need for resources and support for victims of domestic violence in the Maricopa area.

Resources for individuals facing domestic violence include local support services and hotlines, which can provide assistance and guidance in crisis situations.
