Phoenix’s National Society of Black Sports Professionals Unveils Glittering Inaugural Awards Gala
Phoenix, AZ – The National Society of Black Sports Professionals, Phoenix Chapter (BSP-Phx) announced the inaugural awards gala celebration, scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2024. This event will be held at the historic George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, where guests will enjoy an evening of dinner, dancing, and recognition of outstanding sports professionals along with community leaders.
Shaun Mayo, president of BSP-Phx and Chief People Officer at the Arizona Cardinals, expressed enthusiasm for the event. “It is our mission to provide career development and mentorship to the next generation of sports industry leaders and recognize those who created opportunities and lead by example,” he stated.
This year’s honorees include Natasha Adair, Head Coach of Arizona State University Women’s Basketball, and Latasha Causey, President of Phoenix Raceway. Others acknowledged are Erik Moses, CEO of Fiesta Sports Foundation, Leah Payne, Vice President of Phoenix Suns, and the Honorable Corey Woods, Mayor of Tempe, Arizona. Notable journalist and CBS 5 and 3TV Anchor Yetta Gibson will serve as the Mistress of Ceremony for the occasion.
Sponsorship for the gala comes from several prominent organizations, including Desert Diamond Casino, Arizona Cardinals, and Phoenix Raceway, among others. This backing underscores the collaborative effort to elevate Black professionals in the sports industry.
BSP-Phx, founded in 2022, operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. It is focused on advancing Black professionals across all levels of the sports industry in Greater Phoenix, emphasizing career development and mentorship opportunities.
