There are major highway closures around the Valley this weekend. Here's what you need to know

PHOENIX — This weekend, travelers in the Valley should be prepared for significant road closures. Key routes, specifically parts of Interstate 10 and Loop 101, will experience disruptions due to maintenance activities.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced specific schedule details. From 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday, the westbound lanes of I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 and the US 60. This closure will facilitate paving and a traffic shift. Additionally, the westbound on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard, along with off-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road, and Mill Avenue, will not be accessible during this timeframe.

For detours, westbound travelers can redirect via eastbound Loop 202 to northbound Loop 101, eventually rejoining westbound Loop 202. Cardinals fans attending the Sunday game should consider taking westbound/northbound Loop 202 to I-10 near 59th Avenue for smoother access.

Meanwhile, Loop 101 will also face significant closures. Eastbound Loop 101 will be shut down between 75th and 51st avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Northbound on-ramps at Bell Road and Union Hills Drive will be closed as well. Drivers can use the eastbound Loop 101 Beardsley frontage road or local streets like Union Hills Drive to navigate around the closures.

For further information on weekend closures, ADOT advises checking their official website. As always, motorists should remain vigilant, reducing speed and merging safely in work zones, ensuring everyone’s safety.
