PCC Volleyball Stars Haylee Gilleland & Jasmin Joseph Clinch Player of the Week Honors!
The Pima Community College volleyball team has made headlines this week by sweeping the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week awards for the period of September 8-14.
Sophomore outside hitter Haylee Gilleland, hailing from Flagstaff High School, earned the title of ACCAC Division II Offensive Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Jasmin Joseph from Tanque Verde High School was recognized as the ACCAC Division II Defensive Player of the Week.
The Aztecs displayed impressive performance, going undefeated with a 3-0 record during the week. Notably, they secured victories against two nationally ranked teams—No. 15 Mesa Community College and No. 6 Scottsdale Community College. Each match was fiercely contested, culminating in five-set tiebreakers, accounting for a total of 15 sets played.
Throughout these matches, Gilleland showcased her prowess with 62 kills and 54 digs, achieving three double-doubles. She now leads the ACCAC Division II with 180 kills and ranks second on her team with 177 digs over 12 matches and 48 sets this season.
Joseph also had a remarkable week, contributing 70 digs, 13 assists, and 10 aces across the three matches. A standout performance came during a match against Chandler-Gilbert Community College, where she recorded 27 digs and five aces.
Currently, Joseph leads the team with 191 digs, averaging 4.34 digs per set across 11 matches and 44 sets this season.
The Aztecs are set to host Phoenix College at 7 p.m. in the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium, where fans can expect another thrilling match.
