County Launches Free Pet Microchipping Program
Maricopa County Animal Care & Control reports nearly 13,000 animals have entered their shelters this year, most of them stray dogs. To combat overcrowding, the county is offering free pet microchipping at both shelter locations through Dec. 29. The initiative aims to reunite more pets with their owners.
The free microchipping service is available at the county’s East and West shelters Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. Besides microchipping, the shelters also provide services like stray dog turn-in, owner surrender at the West shelter, and the Tails Around Town program, which is set to expand to the East shelter soon.
