A former middle school teacher from Tucson faces the revocation of his Arizona teaching certificate following a disturbing incident involving threats against a Trump merchandise store and a state lawmaker.

Donald Glenn Brown, operating under the alias “Jessica James,” sent a menacing email to The Trumped Store in Show Low, Arizona, on July 4, 2022. In the email, he threatened a mass shooting at the store and vowed to kill State Senator Wendy Rogers. His arrest occurred in September of the same year, charged with attempting to commit terrorism, a class four felony.

The graphic content of Brown’s email was shared during an Arizona State Board of Education (ASBE) meeting. Law enforcement officials revealed that Brown’s threats included specific details about using AR-15 rifles and included explicit language aimed at Senator Rogers and the store’s patrons.

Brown resigned from the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) only after pleading guilty to the charges earlier this year. The Navajo County Superior Court issued a sentence of two-and-a-half years in prison for his actions.

Next Monday, Brown is expected to appear before the ASBE, where the committee is anticipated to revoke his teaching credentials. During a July hearing, Brown did not present himself due to his incarceration; the Professional Practices Advisory Committee (PPAC) subsequently voted unanimously to recommend revocation of his certificate.

Despite holding a preK-12 music education certificate, which is set to expire in September, Brown’s history of inappropriate behavior has further tarnished his record. He previously faced a suspension of teaching credentials in New Mexico after an incident involving explicit content displayed on his classroom computer.

Compounding his issues, Brown reportedly created another alias, “Marina Aleximov,” to express political views while also engaging in sexual content online. Under this alias, he harassed Republican figures and curated explicit material from various public personas.

As the case unfolds, the repercussions of Brown’s actions serve as a stark reminder of the serious implications of threatening behavior, particularly from individuals in positions of authority within the educational system.
