Revolutionary Caregiver Initiative Puts Veterans in the Spotlight
Duet: Partners In Health & Aging is launching a specialized video discussion series called Finding Meaning and Hope this fall. The initiative caters specifically to veterans and family caregivers of veterans, creating a supportive community focused on the challenges of caregiving, particularly for those managing dementia or cognitive impairments.
This 10-week series, developed in collaboration with caregiver grief specialist Dr. Pauline Boss, aims to equip caregivers with practical skills for self-care and resilience. Since its inception in 2017, it has provided vital resources to caregivers from diverse backgrounds, offered at no cost through both virtual and in-person sessions.
The program targets military families, allowing veterans serving as caregivers and civilians looking after veterans with dementia to participate. Such inclusivity fosters a broader understanding of the complexities surrounding grief and loss in caregiving contexts.
Sessions are scheduled to take place online via Zoom, occurring on Thursdays from September 19 to November 21, and Saturdays from September 21 to November 23, both from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interested individuals can explore additional resources or learn more about the series by visiting www.meaningandhope.org/fmh-veterans or calling 602-274-5022.
