Charges Laid Against Driver After Elks Lodge Crash Sparks Aggravated Assault and Endangerment Claims

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — Thomas Kain, a 73-year-old man, is facing serious legal repercussions after crashing his vehicle into an Elks Lodge in Apache Junction. He has been charged with 12 counts of aggravated assault and 17 counts of endangerment, alongside a DUI charge. Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
The incident occurred as Kain was leaving the lodge, resulting in injuries to 30 individuals inside the building. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported, though one person initially in critical condition has since stabilized, according to officials.
The Apache Junction Police Department stated that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
