9-year-old injured after being hit by car in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. — A child sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Tempe on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were dispatched to the vicinity of 48th Street and Baseline shortly before 4 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 9-year-old who had suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The child was promptly transported to a hospital for treatment.

Significantly, the driver involved in the incident did not remain at the scene. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

In light of the ongoing investigation, nearby roads are closed. Drivers are advised to utilize Southern Avenue or Broadway Road as alternate routes to navigate the area.
