Man, 87, killed in Kingman 1-car crash

A traffic-related death is currently under investigation in Kingman, Arizona. Police Chief Rusty Cooper confirmed that 87-year-old Vernon Parsons was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center following the incident.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, November 12, at approximately 10:45 a.m. Officers responded to the scene in the 3000 block of Hualapai Mountain Rd., where a single vehicle was involved in a series of collisions.

According to Chief Cooper, Parsons was driving a Jeep Cherokee southbound on Fripps Ranch Rd. As he approached Hualapai Mountain Rd., he seemingly lost control of his vehicle. The Jeep veered onto the sidewalk, struck a utility box, and crashed into a block retaining wall before ultimately crossing Hualapai Mountain Rd. and colliding with a tree.

Investigators are currently looking into the factors that may have contributed to Parsons’ loss of control. Notably, he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the incident.
