82-year-old woman jailed for attack on husband: report

Nancy Jean Slama, an 82-year-old resident of Province, was arrested by the Maricopa Police Department on February 26, 2025, following an incident involving her husband. According to a probable cause statement, her husband reported that Slama struck him with a flowerpot, causing him a headache.

Officers arrived at Slama’s home on Geyser Drive, where her husband detailed the events leading to the confrontation. The couple was sitting on the couch when Slama demanded that he turn off the television. When he refused, she allegedly grabbed a nearby flowerpot, which led to a struggle between the two.

During the altercation, Slama struck her husband on the left side of his head, causing him to fall to the ground. Reports indicate that she hit him twice more on the right side of his face. Officers observed injuries to his face, head, and knee, alongside a broken ceramic flowerpot at the scene.

While being questioned, Slama provided conflicting statements but ultimately claimed that her husband had grabbed her arms, prompting her to throw the flowerpot at him. As a result of the incident, Slama faces two domestic violence charges and could face up to a year in jail.
