A 42-year-old mother of six suffered a massive heart attack. But doctors can't operate until she gives birth.

In Goodyear, Arizona, the Herrera family faces a heart-wrenching situation. Jessica Herrera, a 42-year-old mother of six, is currently hospitalized after suffering a massive heart attack. Doctors have diagnosed her with a critical condition that necessitates immediate surgery. However, a significant complication arises: Jessica is six months pregnant.

The family is desperate for a miracle. Alex Herrera, Jessica’s husband, expressed the profound impact she has on their lives. “She’s everything to me,” he stated. Their daughter, Mya, echoed this sentiment, highlighting her mother’s unwavering support and love for the family.

In an exclusive interview with 12News, the family discussed the impossible choice they face. Medical professionals indicated that to save Jessica, they would need to consider terminating the pregnancy or waiting until she reaches 28 weeks, allowing for a premature birth. While medical predictions offer an 80 percent survival rate for their son, the risk of another heart attack looms large for Jessica.

Currently, Jessica remains hospitalized. The family acknowledges the long road ahead, regardless of the outcome. “She has a tremendous amount of support and family that loves her very much,” Alex emphasized, grateful for the care provided by the medical team at Banner University Medical Center.

To alleviate mounting medical expenses, the Herreras are organizing fundraising events and have created a GoFundMe page in hopes of covering hospital bills and securing Jessica’s place on the heart transplant list.
