$4 Million Boost: Arizona Media Set for a Thriving 2025!

The Arizona Media Association, in collaboration with the Arizona Local News Foundation, is set to invest almost $4 million in local media support over the upcoming year. This unprecedented funding aims to bolster the state’s media landscape at a critical juncture.
Key initiatives will focus on local media recruitment, including the funding of nearly 60 paid internships, which will total an investment of $200,000. This initiative seeks to inspire new careers in Arizona’s media sector. The association also provides the largest job board for local media positions, making it easier for job seekers to connect with opportunities.
To further enhance recruitment, the association will cover all costs for members to attend career fairs at Arizona’s state universities throughout 2025. Additionally, a total of $75,000 will be allocated for scholarships and training programs at these universities, facilitating connections between students and local media companies.
The association is launching the 2025 Arizona Media Study, the only annual research to track media consumption habits in the state. This $40,000 initiative will provide insights into traditional and digital platforms, advertising trends, and public trust in news. The full report will be available to members in April.
Amid these efforts, the Arizona Local News Foundation continues its mission to strengthen community connections with local news. Recent initiatives include a multi-million-dollar Arizona Community Collaborative focused on education, which will fund 15 new journalism positions and expand public service messaging.
Industry recognition is another priority, with events planned to celebrate achievements in local media, including the re-branded Icon Lunch in April and updated award categories designed to honor excellence within the community.
Advocacy remains a crucial element, with dedicated lobbying efforts both at the state and national levels. The association funds a lobbyist to represent local media interests in Arizona, and plans to facilitate meetings with congressional representatives in Washington, D.C. to garner support for local media initiatives.
In summary, the Arizona Media Association is strategically poised to navigate economic challenges and is committed to uplifting the local media ecosystem through comprehensive support and innovative initiatives. With backing from 350 local media brands, the association aims to enact meaningful change in 2025.
