The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. near the intersection of 163rd and Grand avenues in Surprise. Here are the latest details.

SURPRISE, Ariz. — A 33-year-old man has died following a shooting incident on 163rd Avenue near Grand Avenue. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon, according to the Surprise Police Department.

An 18-year-old man, identified as the shooter, is in police custody.

First responders arrived at the scene just before 2 p.m. They discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began CPR. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Several witnesses reported that the shooting could be connected to a road rage incident, police revealed.

Authorities have closed all north and southbound lanes on 163rd Avenue from Grand Avenue to Pat Tillman Boulevard as the investigation continues.

The area will remain closed due to the ongoing investigation. The police assure there is no threat to the surrounding community as the suspect is in custody.
