2024 marks the 20th parade anniversary

The Daisy Mountain Veterans (DMV) have announced that their highly-anticipated Veterans Parade will return on Saturday, November 9 at 10:00 a.m. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event held in Anthem.

Josh Miller (USMC), a long-time member of the DMV, will once again chair the event. The parade, which honors both veterans and active service members, will also pay a special tribute to the families of those currently serving.

“We are proud to continue the parade tradition in Anthem that began twenty years ago,” said Miller. “Even in challenging years, community support has surged, allowing this event to continue.”

This year’s parade will include a dedicated moment at the beginning to honor families of current service members. Those interested in participating should complete the entry form at DaisyMntVets.org. The entry fee is waived for these families, who will be grouped at the start of the parade route.

The DMV will also place Gold Star families at the beginning of the parade. Gold Star families wishing to participate should also complete the entry form and check the appropriate box.

Local nonprofits, businesses, and community groups will join the parade with floats, bands, and other attractions. Registration opens on August 1 and will run until October 28. The cost is $35, but is waived for veterans and veteran organizations. Late entries will be accepted from October 29 to November 7 with a fee of $150.

The parade plays a crucial role in honoring the sacrifices of veterans, active military members, and their families. “As a veteran, I know how much tributes like this mean to those who serve,” said Miller. “We hope every business and organization in town will participate, and that everyone will bring their families and friends to pay tribute on November 9.”

However, such an event comes with significant costs. According to CWO Tapp, “Most are unaware of the expenses associated with the parade, including traffic plans, security, permits, and more.” The DMV relies on sponsors to help cover these costs, which can exceed $20,000 annually.

Sponsorship packages and opportunities for donations are available on the parade section of DaisyMntVets.org. Interested parties can also contact Elizabeth Turner at [email protected] or 623-640-8417 for more information.
