2 Suspects Nabbed in Valley for Impersonating Law Enforcement, Says DPS
TEMPE, Ariz. — Two individuals were apprehended following an early morning pursuit that sparked significant concern among law enforcement in the Valley.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident commenced around 1:55 a.m. on Saturday. Reports indicated a non-law enforcement vehicle, equipped with red and blue flashing lights, was navigating the eastbound lanes of I-10 near 35th Avenue.
Troopers quickly identified the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, the driver refused to comply, propelling the pursuit forward. As the situation escalated, DPS deployed its helicopter, Phoenix Firebird, to monitor the vehicle’s movements from above.
The chase culminated in Tempe, specifically near Priest and University drives, where the vehicle eventually halted. Following this, the two occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Law enforcement officials successfully tracked down and arrested the individuals, although their identities have yet to be disclosed. This incident continues to develop, and further details will be released as they become available.
