1 Killed in Disturbing Central Phoenix Beating Incident

Phoenix police are investigating the murder of a man discovered on Valentine’s Day in central Phoenix. The body of 35-year-old Darius Smith was found on the floor of an apartment building located near 7th Avenue and West Grant Street.

A call reporting the body was made to the police in the afternoon, and upon arrival, officers noted “obvious signs of trauma” on Smith. It is believed that he had already died prior to the officers’ arrival.

Detectives are actively gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage. Authorities have indicated that this incident shows clear signs of foul play, but no suspects have been identified or apprehended thus far.
