1 Hospitalized After Apparent Wrong-Way Collision on JWP

A crash involving two vehicles occurred on John Wayne Parkway near Hathaway Avenue at approximately 5:36 p.m. on October 20, 2024. The incident resulted in one person being hospitalized.

According to the Maricopa Police Department, a BMW sedan was found totaled and facing the wrong direction in a southbound lane at the scene. Emergency responders from both the Maricopa police and fire departments arrived shortly after, blocking off the southbound lanes to manage the situation.

By 5:45 p.m., the lanes were cleared and reopened to traffic. “One person was transported with minor injuries,” stated MPD spokesperson Monica Williams, confirming the extent of the injuries in this unfortunate incident.
