Wannabe Bloods Gang Member Nabbed After Basketball-Throwing Rampage
A Rancho El Dorado man was arrested Sunday night after a disturbance involving his girlfriend’s house and a basketball, according to authorities.
Maricopa Police Department took 34-year-old Shahid A. Corley into custody on domestic violence charges. The arrest followed reports that he was intoxicated and acting disorderly, hurling a basketball at his girlfriend’s garage door.
Officers responded to the scene on West Hillman Drive, where they found Corley’s girlfriend, who reported that he had stolen her car keys during a heated argument. Corley resides two doors down from the victim.
According to the police report, Corley repeatedly shouted “soowoo”—a gang identifier used by Bloods gang members—at the officers and was uncooperative. His level of intoxication reportedly rendered him unable to remember his own name.
The officers noted that Corley was too drunk to identify himself. Police subsequently trespassed him from his girlfriend’s property, and the stolen car keys were later discovered in the driveway.
Corley was then booked into Pinal County jail, where he faces a potential six-month sentence.
