AVONDALE, Ariz. — A 26-year-old man, Socorro Tena, faces a murder charge following a fatal confrontation sparked by a dispute over a barking dog. According to court records, Tena allegedly shot his brother-in-law during the altercation.

The incident unfolded on November 25 when the victim returned home after a trip to see Santa Claus with his children. Upon arrival, he confronted Tena about the incessant barking of his dog. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot, at which point another individual found Tena standing over the wounded man.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and later succumbed to his injuries. In his confession, Tena claimed he fired in self-defense, fearing the victim would assault him.
