Trump Unveils Bold Plan to Eliminate Overtime Taxes During Arizona Stop
By Daniel Stefanski |
During his recent visit to Tucson, Arizona, former President Donald J. Trump unveiled a significant addition to his economic strategy aimed at voters ahead of the upcoming November General Election. He announced a proposal to eliminate all taxes on overtime pay, positioning the plan as a way to incentivize hard work and benefit American families.
“The people who work overtime are among the hardest-working citizens in our country,” Trump stated. “When you pass 40 hours a week, your overtime hours will be tax-free.” This initiative, he believes, would ease the burden on workers and encourage more individuals to seek overtime opportunities.
Trump elaborated on the potential impact of this policy. He cited discussions with economists who praised the idea, suggesting it could significantly boost the workforce. “You’ll get a whole new workforce by doing that,” he noted, emphasizing his focus on supporting the working-class individuals who often rely on overtime for financial stability.
The former president highlighted various professions that benefit from overtime work, including police officers, nurses, and construction workers. He stated, “It’s time for the working men and women to finally catch a break. I think this is going to be great for the country.” The tax exemption for overtime, he argues, is a critical step toward aiding working families.
Following the announcement, the proposal received backing from the National Fraternal Order of Police. Patrick Yoes, president of the organization, expressed that this measure would provide substantial relief for law enforcement officers and their families, especially those who depend on overtime pay to make ends meet. He reinforced the connection between Trump’s policies and the needs of working families by stating, “This is just one of the many reasons FOP members voted to endorse President Trump.”
Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich also supported the initiative via social media, reminiscing about how overtime pay had afforded him opportunities during his childhood. He referred to Trump as a “Champion of working people and the American Dream,” highlighting the proposal’s potential to positively impact individuals striving for success.
This latest policy announcement is part of a broader strategy by Trump, who has already proposed measures such as “no taxes on tips” and “no taxes on Social Security for seniors” in his campaign efforts leading up to the election.
