Transforming Ordinary Moments into Extraordinary Memories: The Art of Everyday Life
Judy Bruce
On October 3rd, artists from the Sonoran Arts League gathered at the Desert Foothills Library to pick up their summer works. Along with this, featured artists from the Hidden in the Hills showcased various pieces. A dedicated team of volunteers from the Arts League efficiently arranged the artworks for display.
Tess Mosko Scherer, who typically collaborates with Sheila Kolach, curated the exhibition with finesse. The installation crew included Patrick O’Grady, Ted Loomis, and Michele Corsini, who skillfully navigated the ladders to hang the art. Valerie Hildebrand and Julia Harmon managed the check-in process, while Carole Perry assisted with logistics. Valerie has played a crucial role in managing contracts, name tags, and public relations for over fifteen years, dedicating countless hours to ensure each exhibit runs smoothly.
A public reception for the artists is scheduled for October 25th from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at the Desert Foothills Library. Attendees can enjoy refreshments, including Prosecco, at this complimentary event, which welcomes everyone to bring family and friends.
Purchasing artwork supports local artists, with 20% of sales benefitting the Library and an additional 5% supporting the Sonoran Arts League. This also provides an exclusive glimpse into the 28th annual studio tour, featuring 46 studios this year. Visitors are encouraged to attend the October 26th reception, the November 6th presentation, or to simply explore the art in the gallery.
The Showcase presentation is set for November 7th at 4:00 PM at the Library, where notable artists Stacy Neasham, Roxanne Eklund, Scott Raspin, and Jules Gallatig will speak. Attendees can enjoy popcorn, beer, and lemon water while participating in this enriching experience. This event promises an hour of art-related education and inspiration, along with opportunities to tour the exhibition and meet fellow art enthusiasts. “You Gotta Have Art!”
