Teen shot in Meadows has died

In a tragic incident that unfolded on the evening of November 22, a 16-year-old boy was shot in Maricopa Meadows and later succumbed to his injuries. The police responded to reports of a shooting on the 45000 block of West Dirk Street shortly before 7:15 p.m., said department spokesperson Monica Williams.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. Following the incident, authorities established a perimeter for investigation on Dancer Lane, which runs between Dirk Street and Guilder Avenue.

Crime scene investigators remained on-site early the following morning, collecting evidence, including markers beside scattered items such as an article of clothing, vape boxes, and a spilled styrofoam cup.

While the police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community, they are treating the incident as a homicide and have opened an investigation. Williams urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the police department’s non-emergency line at 520-568-3673.
