Suspect Fatally Shot Following Encounter with Tempe Police Officer, Authorities Report
Authorities report that a Tempe police officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, is currently in stable condition.
TEMPE, Ariz. — An aggravated assault suspect died following a confrontation with police during a traffic stop on Tuesday night. According to Tempe Chief of Police Kenneth McCoy, one officer sustained injuries and is recovering.
The incident unfolded around 9 p.m. at the Curry Road and College Avenue intersection. As officers initiated the stop, the suspect fired at them. Police returned fire, striking the suspect, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
