Road Repair and Maintenance Notice: Aspen Ave, Downtown Flagstaff

Scheduled Work:
The City of Flagstaff will conduct road repair and maintenance on Aspen Ave. as part of the annual Road Repair and Street Safety program. The public should anticipate intermittent traffic impacts during the following periods:

1. Utility Lowering:

  • Date: Tuesday, July 23
  • Location: Aspen Ave. from Humphreys St to Elden St
  • Details: Crews will work to lower underground utilities to enable pavement removal and replacement without damaging existing utilities.
  • Impacts: Lane closures, noise, and dust from construction equipment. Work expected to be completed in one day.

2. Sidewalk Replacement:

  • Dates: Monday, July 29 – Friday, August 9
  • Location: North and south sides of Aspen Ave. between Humphreys St and Elden St
  • Details: Replacement of identified deficient sidewalk portions. Work will be done one side at a time to maintain pedestrian access.
  • Impacts: Sidewalk closures on the side being worked on.

3. Asphalt Replacement:

  • Date: Early August (Exact date to be determined)
  • Location: Aspen Ave. between Humphreys St and Beaver St
  • Details: Full closure of Aspen Ave. for asphalt replacement, anticipated to last two days.
  • Work Hours: 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Impacts: Full road closure, further details to be released.

Minimizing Impact:
The City and its contractor, C & E Paving and Grading, aim to minimize disruption to residents and businesses by starting work early in the morning and limiting full closures of roads and sidewalks whenever possible.

About the Program:
The Road Repair and Street Safety program is funded by Flagstaff voters’ 2014 approval of Proposition 406, a $100 million, 20-year dedicated sales tax for road repair and street safety projects.
