Revive the Colorado River: Join the National Public Lands Day Cleanup Effort
Local conservationists are rallying for a significant cleanup initiative along the Colorado River on September 28. The event aims to safeguard the vital ecosystem at Topock Marsh and the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge.
Organized by Friends of the Bill Williams River and Havasu National Wildlife Refuges, the cleanup begins with a safety briefing at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until noon. Community members are invited to lend a hand in protecting natural resources while experiencing the beauty of the refuge.
Volunteers will have the option to participate in a river cleanup via kayak or boat, or engage in a land cleanup on the California side of the refuge. This initiative not only supports environmental preservation but also fosters community engagement.
Local businesses, including Anderson Toyota, Bashas, and Safeway, are backing the event. As a token of appreciation, volunteers will receive a fee-free public lands pass, encouraging ongoing exploration of protected areas.
