The incident occurred at Hamden Town Center Park on Friday evening, where concert attendees and paramedics swiftly attempted to assist him. He was subsequently transported to a hospital, but the cause of his death remains unclear.
His family memorialized him on Instagram, describing him as “a radiant soul” who brought light not only to the stage but also to their lives. They emphasized his infectious joy and the generosity he shared with the world, leaving behind a legacy filled with positivity and love.
Fatman Scoop, born Isaac Freeman III in Harlem, NYC, first gained prominence with his 1999 single, “Be Faithful.” Initially a modest hit in the U.S., it skyrocketed to success in Europe after a 2003 re-release, ultimately reaching number one in the U.K. and Ireland.
In addition to his solo success, Fatman Scoop was known for collaborating with a variety of artists. Notably, he lent his distinctive voice to Missy Elliott’s summer classic “Lose Control,” which won a Grammy in 2006. His contributions also extended to tracks by Mariah Carey, Timbaland, and David Guetta, exemplifying his versatile appeal in the music industry.
