PHOENIX — A woman is dead after she was shot at while driving on a Phoenix roadway overnight, city police said. Homicide detectives are working to learn more.
The shooting happened near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road shortly after midnight, officials said. As officers arrived on the scene of a crash, they found a woman dead inside a crashed car.
Officers learned that the woman was shot at by someone in another vehicle while driving down the road.
During the shooting, the woman was seen veering off the road and crashing into a large cement irrigation box, police said.
It’s currently unclear if the woman was struck during the shooting. Police haven’t disclosed her identity or shared information about outstanding suspects.
