Pacana Park, located in Maricopa and known as the city’s second-largest public outdoor recreation area, is undergoing significant enhancements as it celebrates its 20th anniversary this fall.

Recent installations include a long metal railing along the south side of the parking lot, aimed at beautifying the area. City officials report that this measure complements ongoing refurbishments throughout the park.

Monica Williams, a spokesperson for the City of Maricopa, noted that the upgrades encompass several improvements. These include expanding fishing areas, repainting structures, refinishing tennis courts, and upgrading paver paths.

The park features a walking path surrounding the lake, various green spaces, a dog park, multiple sports fields, and a large playground.

Local fishermen, Maria and John Morales, frequent Pacana Park for catch and release fishing. “We come here two or three times a week,” Maria shared, emphasizing the convenience of living just five minutes away.

John remarked on the practical use of the new railing, mentioning that it allows him to relax while fishing. “It gives me something to lean my pole on,” he said, reflecting on the enhancements to the park.

Furthermore, Maria noted the aesthetic improvements, explaining that the railing contributes to a cleaner look and enhances safety, especially for families with children playing nearby.

Pacana Park is located at 19000 N. Porter Road and is open daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., making it a convenient option for both recreation and leisure activities.
