PHOENIX — Annie Anderson, a 51-year-old woman from Arlington, Washington, has been released from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office custody. This release comes after Anderson was identified as the mother of a newborn girl whose body was discovered in a garbage can at Sky Harbor Airport on October 10, 2005.

The infant, now known as “Baby Skylar,” was found wrapped in a hotel bag inside a women’s restroom at the airport. Authorities reported that the investigation into the case was reopened in February 2024, leading to Anderson’s identification. Her charges include first-degree murder, child abuse, and concealment of a body.
