Live Updates: Intense Storms Lash the Valley on Sunday
Monsoon moisture is moving across Arizona Sunday. Here are the latest updates.
PHOENIX — Thunderstorms are sweeping a large portion of Arizona today, extending from Northern Arizona to the southern Arizona/New Mexico border.
Maricopa County is currently under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Earlier, dense blowing dust resulted in a ground stop at Sky Harbor Airport.
APS and SRP crews are working to restore power to thousands who lost electricity due to the storms.

The National Weather Service warns that strong damaging winds are the primary concern with incoming Valley storms, which could exceed 60 mph.

The storm includes roadways like AZ Route 87 and AZ Route 188. The NWS advises taking shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

In Roosevelt, a severe thunderstorm located 12 miles east of Tonto National Monument is moving south. Winds could reach 60 mph with penny-sized hail, affecting AZ Route 188.
