Lactaid Milk Recall: 27 States Warned of Potential Almond Contamination
In a significant health alert, HP Hood LLC has issued a recall for several cartons of its “LACTAID” lactose-free milk across 27 states. The move follows the unsettling discovery that some milk may contain undeclared almond traces, posing a severe risk to individuals with nut allergies.
This recall, announced on Friday, affects specific 96 oz. cartons of the product. Investigators identified the risk during a routine inspection, which confirmed that trace almonds could have inadvertently contaminated certain batches of milk. At this time, no illnesses related to the affected products have been reported.
The potentially contaminated milk reached grocery stores in states including Alabama, Colorado, and New York, among others, between September 5 and 18. Consumers in these areas should remain vigilant about their milk purchases.
To check if their milk is part of the recall, customers should look for SKU code 51-4109 P2 on their cartons. Additionally, the affected milk carries “Best By” dates between November 24 and December 1.
Those who find their product included in the recall can return it to the store for a complete refund or exchange, regardless of whether the package has been opened. For more information, customers can contact the Hood Customer Affairs hotline at 800-242-2423, available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
