Justice March: Demanding Answers for Anthony Logan
Family and friends of 17-year-old Anthony Logan held a memorial walk on Wednesday, July 24, marking a month since his tragic death. Logan was shot while sitting in his vehicle outside Western Park. Participants in the walk chanted “Justice for Anthony!” as they marched along Riverside Drive from Geronimo Avenue to Western Park, demanding answers and accountability in the unresolved case.
Logan, a member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, was in his truck on the evening of June 24 when he was shot. The CRIT Police Department responded to the scene and declared him deceased. Evidence and witness accounts indicate that the suspect fled the scene on foot. A person of interest was arrested the following day on an unrelated charge, but their identity remains undisclosed.
After the walk, Logan’s mother, Tonia Stone, addressed the participants at Western Park. She shared that investigators believe multiple individuals might be involved, all of whom are juveniles and not tribal members. “I don’t understand why,” Stone said, expressing her anguish. “I want to know why my son was murdered.”
Stone emphasized that although her son was not perfect, he was young and employed. The involvement of juveniles in the case deeply disturbed her. “These are children,” she stated. “Talk to your kids. This isn’t how it should be. We should be standing together.”
Stone urged anyone with information about the case to come forward and contact investigating agencies. “Say something!” she pleaded. Relevant authorities include the CRIT Police, the FBI, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, along with the Parker Police Department.
The CRIT Police said the case is being jointly investigated by their department, Parker Police, the FBI, and the BIA. The Pioneer reached out to these agencies for updates. The FBI indicated that the BIA is leading the case, but no response was received from the BIA media office. The CRIT Police have yet to comment on the ongoing investigation.
