Hiker Discovers Human Remains on South Mountain Trails
An investigation is pending results from the medical examiner’s office, police said.
PHOENIX — A hiker found human remains while on South Mountain Saturday morning, officials with the Phoenix Police Department said.
Police received a call from a park ranger just before 10 a.m. who said the hiker found what they thought were human remains. Officers responded and were able to confirm the remains were human.
Detectives responded to the scene and collected evidence. The medical examiner’s office will collect the remains to determine the cause and manner of death, officials said.
The investigation is pending the results of the medical examiner’s report.
