Havasu Guide: Where Political Signs Are Allowed on Golf Courses and Where They’re Not
Recently, a tip from a Lake Havasu City resident highlighted confusion regarding the placement of political signs along Acoma Boulevard, particularly near the golf course.
This confusion arises from the mixed ownership of the area. Most of the land is private property belonging to Lake Havasu Golf Club, but sections close to Acoma Boulevard fall under public right-of-way.
The city’s code enforcement division handles political sign regulations on a complaint basis. Therefore, enforcement is not proactive but responds to community reports.
Specific rules govern where signs can be placed. Signs on private property, like the golf course, require the owner’s consent. Meanwhile, public areas such as the sidewalk and adjacent grass strip have different rules. Signs in these areas must include the candidate’s or campaign committee’s contact information and adhere to height restrictions, especially near intersections.
