Havasu Community Health Foundation Delivers Essential Health Services to Students
The Havasu Community Health Foundation is preparing for its 17th annual health fair this Saturday. This Lake Havasu City event draws nearly 650 families each year.
Event Coordinator Joni Spencer mentioned that the fair offers essential services such as immunizations and health screenings. Claudia Betancourt, another HCHF staff member, assists with these efforts.
The fair adopts a magical theme, featuring dragons, fairies, and wizards. Services available include school immunizations, dental, and sports physical exams, plus vision and hearing tests. Milemarkers will conduct developmental screenings.
“The health of our children is crucial,” Spencer remarked. She emphasized the importance of receiving required immunizations before the school year begins.
London Bridge Rotary Club and Anderson Auto Group are sponsoring sports physical vouchers, which can be redeemed later. Approximately 40 vendors will be present, spanning various industries.
Medical providers include the Regional Center for Border Health and North Country Healthcare. Countywide groups like WIC and Child Support Services will also participate.
Local organizations such as Lake Havasu Ballet and Sequoia Choice Learning Center will be there, along with Kids on the Colorado, Inc. The fair will feature complimentary children’s haircuts, safety helmets, breakfast, and school supplies. Bicycles will be given away in drawings.
The first 400 attendees can enjoy a free swim from noon to 4 p.m. at the Aquatic Center. “We provide necessary health services in a fun atmosphere,” Spencer said, expressing gratitude for the support from sponsors and volunteers.
The HCHF Back to School Health Fair is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center, located at 100 Park Ave.
