Uptown residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the blasting phase of the Uptown garage project has concluded.

Kurt Harris, Sedona’s Director of Public Works, reported that the excavation process involved a total of 16 controlled blasts. These operations typically took place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, just before or around 8 a.m. The final blast, noted for its intensity, occurred on October 30.

“The blasting protocol includes a follow-up inspection to assess any potential damage to surrounding structures,” Harris explained, emphasizing the importance of safety. “That process has just begun, and we anticipate receiving a report from the consultant soon.”

The garage is slated for completion by August 21. Should there be delays, contractor Fann Contracting will incur a penalty of $1,780 for each day past the deadline.
