Arraignment set for man in felony shoplifting case

A Lake Havasu City resident, Christopher M. Stubbs, is set for arraignment next week in Mohave Superior Court on multiple theft charges from the local Walmart.

Stubbs, 52, was apprehended on July 12 after Walmart employees allegedly recognized him from a prior theft in mid-March. They identified his location within the store, leading to a confrontation with law enforcement.

According to the police report, Stubbs confessed to the thefts. He reportedly described his method of swapping price tags from cheaper items to more expensive ones, enabling him to purchase the latter at reduced prices.

Stubbs allegedly admitted to six theft incidents, although store employees had only documented two. Police displayed a still image of the suspect from the March incident to Stubbs, who confirmed his identity as the suspect.

Following his admission, officers arrested Stubbs and took him into custody at the Lake Havasu City Police Department. He faces two felony counts of organized retail theft.

Police records estimate the total value of items stolen by Stubbs at around $105.

Stubbs is scheduled for arraignment on August 1 in Mohave Superior Court. Jail records indicate he remained out of custody as of Tuesday.
