Chick-fil-A Dethroned: New Leader Emerges in US Fast Food Rankings

USA Today ranked the top 10 best fast-food restaurants in the nation and Chick-Fil-A fell from the top spot.

PHOENIX — Put down your chicken sandwiches and grab a taco because there is a new top fast food restaurant in the United States, according to a new ranking from USA Today.

For about a decade, Chick-fil-A has reigned supreme as the top place to grab some fast food. However, that is no longer the case for the restaurant famous for using cows to ask people to “Eat More Chikin” as Chick-fil-A fell from the top spot to No. 3, and the new champion may come as a surprise.

USA Today ranked Del Taco as the top fast food restaurant in the nation.

“This popular taco stop, which serves all kinds of satisfying Mexican fare including burritos, quesadillas, and nachos, also offers burgers and fries. In addition, Del Taco has a dedicated breakfast menu, as well as a vegan and vegetarian menu,” USA Today’s ranking says.

Del Taco has 40 locations across Arizona.

KFC also topped Chick-fil-A in the rankings, coming in at No. 2 thanks to their “finger-lickin’ good” chicken remaining a favorite for people around the USA.

After Chick-fil-A at No. 3, In-N-Out Burger was ranked No. 4, Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. was No. 5, Captain D’s was No. 6, Taco Bell was No. 7, Popeye’s was No. 8, Zaxby’s was No. 9 and Arby’s rounded out the list at No. 10.

This was one of many Top 10 lists USA Today has released in recent days showcasing the top places to eat around the nation.

QDOBA Mexican Eats was named the top fast-casual restaurant in the nation, beating out Torchy’s Tacos and BurgerFi.

Biscuitville, a chain in Virginia and the Carolinas, took the title of top breakfast restaurant, beating Del Taco and Jack in the Box.

Best fast-food burger went to the Double Char from The Habit Burger Grill. That beat In-N-Out’s Double-Double and BurgerFi’s BBQ Rodeo Burger.

Jollibee took the title for best fast-food fried chicken over Pollo Campero and Guthrie’s Chicken.

Del Taco was named the fast food restaurant with the best fries over Jack in the Box and McDonald’s.

The Habit Burger Grill’s tempura green beans were named the best fast food side over Golden Chick’s fried okra and Jack in the Box’s onion rings.

El Pollo Loco was named the best restaurant for quick, healthy food over Taziki’s Mediterranean Café and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

And finally, PrimoHoagies was named the top sandwich shop over Subway and Potbelly Sandwich Works.
