Three new high school football plays have been nominated for this week’s Sweet Play of the Week, competing for a chance to win a $5,000 scholarship. View the plays and cast your vote now!
PHOENIX — It’s time again to participate in the voting for the Friday Night Fever Sweet Play of the Week! Each week, the show highlights the top three plays in Arizona high school football, termed “Sweet Plays.” After watching, fans can visit 12News.com/Fever to vote for their favorite.
At the end of the season, winners from each week will vie for a scholarship sponsored by Sweet James Accident Attorneys. This initiative emphasizes community engagement in celebrating local athletes.
This week’s nominees are particularly exciting:
- A 65-yard pick six by Mesa’s Griffin Yamamoto
- A blocked field goal returned for a 90-yard touchdown by Benjamin Franklin’s Talan Speir
- A 66-yard touchdown run by Brophy’s Case Vanden Bosch
You can view the plays in the accompanying video. Voting will remain open until next Friday at 10 a.m., with the winner announced during Week 4 of Friday Night Fever.
Additionally, the city of Phoenix serves as the home base for four major professional sports teams: the Arizona Cardinals (NFL), Phoenix Suns (NBA), Phoenix Mercury (WNBA), and Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB). Among their venues, State Farm Stadium in Glendale is the Cardinals’ home, while the Suns and Mercury share the Footprint Center.
Soccer fans can support the USL’s Phoenix Rising FC, who host their games at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium. The region is also a hub for renowned sporting events, such as the Fiesta Bowl, WM Phoenix Open, and NASCAR races.
