Help wanted: Cartwright school district needs more teachers

The Cartwright School District in Phoenix is gearing up for a job fair this weekend aimed at recruiting teachers for the upcoming academic year.

Scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the event will take place at the district office located at 5220 W Indian School Road. The district is looking to fill around 20 teaching positions for the 2025-26 school year.

“We are really hoping to get certified teachers or teachers soon to be certified,” stated John Scudder, the district’s director of human resources.

With approximately 14,000 students across 20 K-8 schools, Cartwright offers competitive starting salaries at $50,000. Teachers with prior experience can expect higher compensation.

In addition to salary benefits, the district offers a four-day work week, allowing both teachers and students to have Fridays off.

Interested candidates can apply in person during the job fair or visit the district’s website for additional information.
